All about the funk with Lisa Hunt
FUNK and soul singer Lisa Hunt is about to come back after a four-month trip singing through Italy and Sweden, plus a holiday in her native USA.
The much-loved Byron Bay singer will hit the ground running with a new show at the Byron Bay Golf Club next week.
Speaking from New York during her holidays, Hunt announced a new band and an African theme for her show.
"This year I am taking back to Byron Bay a new sexy saxophone player from New York for my band, his name is Jeff Reid," she said.
"Having a sax player will allow us to have a lot more horn-based music.
"I have also recruited a new keyboard player from Italy, Micchelli.
"There will be an African tribal jam with some drummers as part of the show, besides my regular funk and soul songs.
"I also have a new look, I've gone blond!"
The show is being held in association with African Leaf, an organisation that works towards loving, educating, acknowledging and feeding orphaned African children.
Hunt spent some time in Kenya in 2014 and witnessed the pressing needs of the children in that area.
The singer performed 19 shows in Italy between July and August, where she lived between the late 1980s and early 1990s, in the band of Italian megastar Zuccero.
At the Byron Bay Golf Club on Friday, October 2, 8pm. $20.
