'Fully sick' young filmmakers
YOU now only need to go online to check out the Northern Beaches’ best surfing and skating talent.
Surfer Matt Sibbald, 16, and skater Louis Tierney, 14, have been videoing their friends and others at local skate parks and beaches and then uploading them onto video sharing website YouTube. The videos have received up to 500 views and one of Matt’s has been uploaded to the American sports site, Video Wired.
Both boys spend weeks editing footage of their friends’ best stunts, manoeuvres and falls, before uploading it to the net.
Matt first took up a camera after he tore some muscles in his leg, which kept him out of the surf.
Luckily for him the surfing talent around the area is so awesome he was able to feature top surfers such as Sean Cansdell and Jayke Sharp and up-and-comers like Zane Coleman, Mark Merrikin, Cameron Ellis, Billy Keane and Madison Williams.
Under his production name, Fusion Surf, he is hoping to release a major video at a special screening at the Water Cafe later this year. Fellow Woolgoolga High student Louis Tierney has uploaded 12 skating videos to YouTube since he started filming about eight months ago.
He tries to capture his mates as they perform kick flips, pop shoves, heel flips, ollies, back 180s and front 180s. He captures them in action at the skate parks and schools around the area – anywhere they can pick up some air going down steps or grinding down the rails.
His friends reckon Louis’ video skills are “fully sick” and keep getting better.
