Fraud arrest made after almost four years on the run

A CARER, who was on the run for almost four years after allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a vulnerable elderly woman in Queensland, has been arrested on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Francesca Marzella is accused of conning a woman at an aged care home on the Gold Coast into signing over power of attorney.

When the woman sold her house for about $350,000 in 2009, Ms Marzella allegedly pocketed the funds.

She was charged with fraud and bailed to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court.

Police allege Ms Marzella skipped bail and fled to NSW.

Following a tip off, she was arrested at Emerald Beach, near Coffs Harbour on Tuesday.

She appeared in the Bellingen court on Wednesday and is expected to be extradited to Queensland.
