Former Qantas chief Geoff Dixon takes flight

Former Qantas chief Geoff Dixon and his wife, Dawn, have $10m hopes for their extraordinary Darling Point home, which is set to hit the market.

The luxurious two-level residence at 1/44 New Beach Road has uninterrupted gun-barrel views of the Harbour Bridge across d'Albora Marina and is listed with Raine and Horne Double Bay's Alex Lyons.

Dixon was in the top job at Qantas between 2001 and 2008 and was succeeded by the current CEO Alan Joyce. He was also on the Crown Resorts board between 2007 and 2019.

The couple, who bought the three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment in Elandra in Dawn's name for $8.65m in 2016 from Acme marketing director Victor Topper and his wife, Sandra, are now looking to downsize.

There's certainly plenty of room for families, professional couples or downsizers and their guests since the residence offers 438sqm of indoor and outdoor living space.

Finished to the highest possible standard, the couple have done a range of cosmetic improvements to the residence, which is one of just three in the boutique complex.

It offers an enormous open-plan living and dining area with a gas fireplace that's surrounded by marble.

An additional formal lounge room has harbour views and a surround sound system.

Full-height bi-fold doors lead to an enormous sunny wraparound terrace with Harbour Bridge views that's perfect for large-scale entertaining.

The kitchen has both Caesarstone and stainless steel benchtops, Miele appliances and an integrated Miele coffee machine.

Two of the bedrooms, which each have ensuites, are on the ground floor.

A lift transports you to the master suite on first floor. Occupying the entire level, it features a huge dressing room, marble ensuite with double vanities and bath.

The bedroom also opens via bifolds to the terrace with the incredible views.

The residence also comes with airconditioning, a double garage and two separate storage areas.

Lyons also sold the couple's four-bedroom, three-bathroom escape with pool in Byunya Road, Palm Beach for $3.5m in 2018.

That was bought by Channel Ten Studio 10 presenter Jonathan Coleman and his wife, Margot.
