FORD'S Falcon will have one last hurrah before production finishes in 2016.

The Blue Oval has been tight lipped on the new Falcon with only teaser shots revealed this week, but Ford has confirmed it will have improved aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres and a high-tech six-speed automatic transmission that will reduce mass and weight.

But muscle car fans don't despair, as predicted the Mustang will arrive to fill the Falcon void.

There were very few details available on the Falcon or the  Mustang as Ford revealed plans for a refreshed 11-model range of passenger, SUV and commercial vehicles that will reach Australia by 2017.

The Mustang is among the newcomers, along with a five-door hatch and wagon versions of the Mondeo mid-sizer, Ford Fiesta, Ford Fiesta ST, a small SUV called EcoSport and an all-new Ford Transit range.

"Our customers, our employees and Australia can be assured that we're connected to the nation and committed to our customers through terrific products with class-leading technologies," he said.
