Five compete in pitch event

Industry trendsetter and creator of the ‘Beached Az’ animation series, Jarod Green will be a special guest speaker at this year’s Screenworks Life’s A Pitch event on Saturday (September 18) at the Byron Bay Community Centre.

Life’s A Pitch is an opportunity for Northern Rivers film makers to be discovered.

Five local contestants will battle it out in front of a panel of industry executives and a live audience.

The winner will go on to Sydney to pitch at the Screen Producers Association Fringe conference and will be in the running to win a trip to Cannes.

This year’s Life’s A Pitch contestants include documentary film maker and Mullumbimby High graduate Felicity Blake with a documentary about Synesthesia featuring Police Academy’s Michael Winslow; local school teacher and sports fanatic Chad Kolzce with a children’s animation series; Byron Bay fashion designer Loretta Egan with a TV comedy on grey nomads, locally based TV personality Scott McGregor with a series of documentaries on trees and a duo including extreme sportsman Sai Frame and Byron Bay-based restaurateur and chef Adam Brown with a series on sport and food.

Each of the contestants has been refining their presentations to capture the attentions of this year’s judges who are from SBS TV, ABC TV, Screen Australia and Screen NSW.

Tickets for Screenworks Life’s A Pitch are on sale at the Byron Bay Community Centre, phone 66856807 or go to www.byroncentre.com.au
