First look at Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs

THE first trailer has been released for Universal Pictures' upcoming Steve Jobs biopic.

Michael Fassbender stars as the Apple co-founder, whose legacy includes the iPod, iPhone and Pixar animation.

The film also stars Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels and Australian Sarah Snook.

The footage has sparked debate on social media, with some commenting on Fassbender not physically resembling Jobs.

Comparisons have also been drawn between the trailer and The Social Network, which took a similarly deep look into the highs and lows of Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The Social Network's director Aaron Sorkin is one of the screenwriters of the Steve Jobs film, which is based on Walter Isaacson's length biography.

Steve Jobs is due for release on October 8.
