LAMA Zaytoun and Sarah Linsalata have been eliminated from My Kitchen Rules.
The fiery South Australian cousins lost a sudden-death cook-off against Victoria's 'MSG scandal' friends Caitie Barrow and Demi Kotsoris.
Lama and Sarah scored a lowly 25 out of 60 after an error-ridden cook where they took shortcuts and missed crucial ingredients.
Caitie and Demi were much more settled and scored 34 out of 60.
The result comes after Lama and Sarah blamed personal strife including a marriage split for their poor result in the cooking show's instant restaurant round.
Lama and Sarah plated up a three-course meal of spicy prawns with crusty bread, lamb cutlets with couscous salad and mint pea puree, and caramelised fig with olive oil ice cream.
Caitie and Demi served zucchini fritters with tzatziki, moussaka with candied lemon salad, and a galaktoboureko (milk custard) dessert.
Both teams were multi-tasking from the start with Lama and Sarah hitting trouble early when Lama forgot to put the blade in the ice cream churner.
Later, Sarah compounded the problem when she realised that she had forgotten to put the olive oil in the ice cream.
Disaster was looming.
Meals were judged by Pete Evans, Manu Feildel, Colin Fassnidge, Karen Martini, Guy Grossi and Liz Egan.
But both teams had strong entrees. Fassnidge described Caitie and Demi's zucchini fritters as "very confident cooking".
"I love the play of the zucchini against the sharpness of the tzatziki," Martini agreed.
Evans called Lama and Sarah's prawns "absolutely delicious". Grossi enthused "it's a winner for me".
"That bread is really amazing and the (spicy) sauce has got a lot of flavour," Egan said.
Lama and Sarah had time management issues with their main and were literally throwing the lamb cutlets on the plates with seconds to go.
"It looks like an explosion - let's just hope the flavours are there," Lama said as she scoped the finished result.
Feildel was critical. "I struggle when we don't even know what cuisine we're talking about," he said.
"Couscous doesn't go with peas. This is a very confusing dish."
Some of the judges' lamb was undercooked and others overcooked. Consistency, as well as presentation, was an issue.
Caitie and Demi had a much more successful main, even though they burnt the tops of four of their individual moussakas.
"I guarantee that if they had cooked this at their instant restaurant they wouldn't be fighting for survival because it is a decent main course," Evans said.
"It is a really good home-cooked meal," Grossi raved.
Both teams' desserts were train wrecks. Lama and Sarah decided to change methods and cut the figs in half instead of poaching them whole. Because of the earlier mix-ups, the ice cream was soft and runny.
"The figs are quite stewy", Fassnidge said.
"I really don't detect the olive oil in the ice cream," Martini critiqued.
"To me the biggest disappointment is the ice cream," Grossi said. "It is like it is almost starting to curdle."
Caitie and Demi were smashed for their decision to use cornflakes instead of filo pastry in a twist on their classic Greek dessert.
"It is a little bit like breakfast," Feildel scoffed.
"I'm all for putting your own spin on the classics but it has got to mean something … and this has not worked at all," Egan said.
Evans was especially scathing saying, "all they had to do was plate up a traditional galaktoboureko and it would have been 20 times better than this.
At the end of the cook, it was clear that Lama and Sarah would be going home.
"You started with a bang but unfortunately you ended with a whimper," Grossi said as he scored them 5 out of 10.
"The entree was strong but the rest was totally hampered by poor technique," Martini said, scoring 4 out of 10.
Lama and Sarah scored 4s from everyone except Grossi. Caitie and Demi scored sixes and fives to stay in the competition.
"Our experience on My Kitchen Rules has been an emotional rollercoaster," Sarah said. "There's been highs, there's been lows, but it has been the best experience of my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world."
