Fenech fears for Mundine against Green

BOXING: Jeff Fenech has called for next year's fight between Anthony Mundine and Danny Green to be called off - fearing Mundine could be seriously hurt.

Speaking on Sky Sports Radio, the Australian boxing great said the fact Mundine would struggle to reach the catch weight of 83kg put him at risk in the fight, which is scheduled for February 3 at the Adelaide Oval.

"If Danny Green hits him with a very clean punch, Anthony could face a serious health problem,” Fenech (pictured) said.

"I believe that the fight shouldn't be allowed to go ahead. Forget the money.”

Fenech, a three-time world champion, said Mundine was the rank outsider and believed the fans wouldn't see much of a contest if the fight went ahead.

"As a spectacle, I think it's going to be terrible,” Fenech said.

"He's been knocked down six or eight times in his last three times against guys who weigh 65-67kg, 70kg.

"Danny Green is going to weigh 90 on the night.

"It shouldn't be allowed.”

Mundine played down the chances of succumbing to a heavy knock-out defeat.

"He's got the power. He's probably going to be 10kg heavier than me. But speed beats power,” Mundine told SEN radio.

"If he's hitting air, I got nothing to worry about.”
