POLICE have confirmed a man killed at Tintenbar at the weekend was from Ballina.
Insp Nicole Bruce of Richmond Local Area Command said an incident caused the 59-year-old cyclist to crash into a guard-rail while on an outing with Ballina BUG Cycling group at 9.30am on Sunday.
He was treated and taken by ambulance to Ballina Hospital but pronounced dead on the way.
Insp Bruce said investigations into the man's death were continuing and police were calling for witnesses to come forward.
Investigations are also continuing into the death of a woman in the early hours of Sunday at Coolamon Scenic Drive.
The 28-year-old Murwillumbah died after her car ran off the road. Police have said she appeared to have lost control of her Subaru wagon around a sweeping bend and collided with a tree.
The woman was discovered about 7.25am on Sunday, however, police believe the crash occurred happened several hours earlier.
She was believed to have been the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
Inspector Greg Jago of Tweed Byron Local Area Command said an investigation was ongoing and a report would be prepared for the Coroner.
