FASHION: How to wear yellow without looking like a banana

YELLOW, in hues of lemon, mustard and canary, is the brightest colour on the block and has been shown as a true favourite of designers this season. Here is how to wear the season's brightest colour - comfortably.

BE THE SUNSHINE: Known as a mood-lifting colour, yellow is symbolic of happiness and positive energy. But we sometimes lack the courage to wear it. This vibrant shade pops up in the suits worn by Alicia Silverstone in Clueless, Emma Stone's dress in La La Land and Belle's legendary look in Beauty and the Beast. Yellow, once seen purely as a statement, is easily integrated into daily outfits.

Incorporating yellow into your autumn wardrobe is easy when mixed with monochrome pieces. Pair a simple black top or light jumper with mustard jeans for a balanced look, or dress in reverse with a pastel yellow bomber jacket worn with black trousers. Try pairing canary yellow palazzo plants with a monochromatic blouse.

For evenings out you can wear a tailored daffodil dress or a lime yellow blouse with detailed embellishment.

ACCESSORISE: You can let accessories pop with a small yellow clutch bag or matching stilettos. Even sweep a light yellow eyeshadow over the centre of your eyelid to make you look fresh and awake.

It's an easy trend to compartmentalise, as any monochromatic outfit will act as a neutraliser for the daring yellow accompaniment that you chose. Wear this season's happy colour with confidence.
