ESSENDON has locked down another important part of its future, with exciting young forward Orazio Fantasia signing until the end of the 2019 season.
Fantasia was a revelation for the Bombers in 2016, booting 29 goals in 19 games.
Essendon's list and recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro said he viewed the 21-year-old as a potential midfield option going forward.
"Orazio had an outstanding season in 2016 and was one of the bright lights to come from a tough year when it came to results on the scoreboard," Dodoro told the club's website.
"His development was fast tracked to the point where he became one of the most exciting small forwards in the competition.
"He's an exciting talent that brings speed to our forward line, and in time could add plenty of dash to our midfield.
"Orazio is extremely highly regarded for his professionalism, and he is a great team member who we believe has the potential to develop into a Club leader in the future."
Recruited from Norwood, Fantasia was drafted at Pick 55 in the 2013 AFL Draft and has played 27 games for the Bombers so far, kicking 31 goals.
Remarkably, the small forward has received two AFL Rising Star nominations - one in Round 22, 2015, before receiving a second in 2016.
