‘F*** marriage, we want revenge’

WARNING: Coarse language

SQUATTERS living in what were the former headquarters for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras have reportedly covered the walls in anarchic graffiti.

It appears the group moved in to the rundown warehouse located in Petersham, in Sydney's inner west, after it was abandoned eight years ago, but were forced to leave as the building was set to be demolished.

Columnist for The Daily Telegraph, Miranda Devine, posted pictures of the inside of the warehouse to Twitter.

When the demolition team arrived they found a number of mismatched chairs and lounges arranged in a circle, surrounded on all sides by the hateful wall art that was left there by the former occupants.

"F*** marriage, we want revenge!" and "You only gave us rights because we gave you riots! Queer power," were just some of the phrases that had been painted on the walls.

There was also a mural depicting a police car engulfed in flames and next to it a drawing of a masked person holding a molotov cocktail.

Organisers told The Australian they were shocked to see the condition of the building and were unaware of what had happened after they moved office locations.

The building has now been demolished and the graffiti along with it.
