Exodus fear after Stewart flies the Sea Eagles’ coop

GLENN Stewart's acrimonious split with Manly to join NRL rivals South Sydney could be the start of a player exodus from the seaside club.

His brother Brett yesterday declined to comment on where he stood after the Sea Eagles' refusal to put an offer to Glenn saw him commit his future elsewhere.

Other teammates, including centre Steve Matai, were believed to be annoyed the club let the star back-rower walk out of Brookvale.

Cashed-up following the decision by English international Sam Burgess to seek a release from the final two years of his deal at Redfern, the Rabbitohs swooped on Stewart once it became clear salary cap pressures, and Manly's obsession in building a war chest to retain champion halfback Daly Cherry- Evans, would force the 29-year-old out the door.

To complicate matters, the Broncos are believed to be preparing a huge offer to lure Cherry-Evans to Brisbane next season, even though he has another year on his existing contract.

In other bad news at Manly, five-eighth Keiran Foran has been ruled out for the next four weeks after injuring his medial ligament in Friday night's win against the Cowboys.

Skipper Jamie Lyon will wear the No.6 jersey with Peta Hiku to fill in for Lyon in the centres.

The embattled Knights will be without prop Willie Mason for two matches after he accepted a two-game suspension for a shoulder charge in his team's loss to the Broncos.

Mason's place in the front row will be taken by Kade Snowden who returns from concussion.
