Ex-Cat purring as he gets back on track after op
PRIZED Brisbane recruit Allen Christensen has shaken off a second round of back surgery and is on track to make his debut for the Lions against Collingwood on April 4.
The Geelong premiership player underwent surgery 12 months ago, managing just eight games for the Cats during season 2014, before missing their two finals.
He went under the knife again in September, but has been one of the stars at training since Christmas, prompting coach Justin Leppitsch to suggest the 23-year-old would be ready for round one at the Gabba.
"I would have thought he'll play the last NAB Challenge game two weeks before round one," Leppitsch told the Lions website.
"That's something that's probably too early to call 100 per cent, but I'd like to play him. "He's on schedule, he's on target and a really good possibility for round one."
Christensen has kicked 56 goals in 65 AFL games.
