Push to start community-based renewable energy co in region

NORTHERN Rivers Energy will hold a Stakeholder Community Forum at Ballina Surf Club on February 5 from 6pm to 7.15pm.

It would like input on its draft business plan for establishing a community based renewable energy company.

The idea is to create a company covering the Tweed, Kyogle, Byron Bay, Lismore, Ballina, Richmond Valley and Clarence Valley local government areas.

The company would act as an electricity retailer and generator. It would also be involved in asset management and provide education and information on renewable energy.

A Byron Bay forum today is full and those planning to attend the Ballina forum at Lighthouse Parade must register.
