Ellie's career only just beginning after X Factor exit

AUSTRALIA has not seen the last of Ellie Lovegrove.

The 19-year-old might have been booted off The X Factor last night, but she has a bright future ahead of her.

The Adelaide singer told APN she will start writing songs to record as part of a young achievers award.

"The award provided me with recording time at the Sydney Opera House, so it's time to start picking up a guitar and writing music," she told APN.

"I'm really looking forward to following my dreams and keeping my career up."

The talented singer, who proved she can belt out ballads with the best of them, is showing potential similar to that of Jessica Mauboy after she finished runner-up in the fourth series of Australian Idol.

Lovegrove brushed shoulders with Mauboy at last week's Deadly Awards, which she attended with her X Factor coach Redfoo.

"Anybody along the lines of Jessica Mauboy or Casey Donovan, I'd love to collaborate with," she said.

"There are all these amazing artists in the industry right now. Even Redfoo would be pretty cool (laughs). Those are some big dreams happening there."

She credits Redfoo with helping her to come out of her shell.

"I was a fairly shy performer, but as the show went on Foo realy started to push me out of my comfort zone," she said.

"He taught me how to be more confident as a performer. He's really helped me grow as an artist and even as a person."

She tips the "flawless" Dami Im as the show's current frontrunner.

"Dami just hasn't gone wrong anywhere," she said.

"I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone goes on the show. I'll definitely be cheering from the lounge room."

The X Factor will air on the special day of Tuesday at 7.30pm next week because of the 2013 Brownlow Medal presentation.
