Eels too good for the Rabbitohs

THE Parramatta Eels have gained revenge for their Round 10 loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs by recording a 30-12 win at ANZ Stadium.

Souths were boosted by the return from injury of veteran John Sutton for his first game since Round 1, but it was the Eels who ran in four tries to the Rabbitohs' two.

Rookie Parramatta winger Bevan French scored a double to take his career try tally to four in three games, while the Eels' other winger, Australian Test player Semi Radradra, sealed the win in the dying moments with a sensational length-of-the-field solo effort.

The Eels move into outright third on the ladder on 20 points (pending the possible loss of competition points for alleged salary cap breaches) while the Rabbitohs languish in 12th with just five wins this season.

Souths fullback Alex Johnston opened the scoring in the 10th minute after a neat backline move, before Clinton Gutherson swooped on a Corey Norman kick six minutes later to level the scores.

The Eels took the lead soon after through a Michael Gordon penalty and extended the lead through a converted try to French.

Rabbitohs forward Nathan Brown then finished a slick passing move to narrow the gap to two points at half-time.

French added his second midway through the second half and Gordon slotted two more penalties.

Radradra finished the scoring when he picked up a loose ball near his own line, evaded a swarm of Rabbitohs defenders and outpaced the cover defence to run in one of the tries of the season.
