Eddie Boyd and his band win Bluesfest busking competition
BLUE Mountains band Eddie Boyd and The Phatapillars have secured a spot in this year's Bluesfest line-up by winning the festival's busking competition.
The winning band was announced earlier tonight at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay.
Eddie Boyd and The Phatapillars are a trio from the Blue Mountains near Sydney, and while not actually hillbillies, the barefoot, front porch, banjo pickin', pig squealin' feeling seems to have been passed down to them somehow.
The band has managed to mash the hillbilly vibe together with the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, The White Stripes and everything else an Aussie bloke born in the '90s is likely to have come across.
The trio will be playing at Bluesfest's Delta stage on Monday from noon as part of their prize.
