Easy, breezy and Australian-made
DESIGNER Ronnie Sansonetti doesn't believe in ironing, or in having to make several outfit changes throughout the day. She may have been immersed in an image-focused industry, but the founder of womenswear label Andiamo arrived at the more practical mindset the same way most of us eventually do.
"I began with a label in the '80s making clothes for young, single girls who enjoyed clubbing," Ronnie says.
"That all changed in 1992 when I had two boys and could not find anything to wear.
"Raoul, my husband, was a cutter for a huge Sydney manufacturer that was taking their business offshore.
"We were confident that there would still be a place for beautifully made Australian garments designed for Australian women, so we resisted joining the huge wave of manufacturers that were going offshore and dedicated ourselves to building a business based in Sydney using local manufacturers."
The flattering fit of the label's capri pants earned initial attention, but the range has grown to sizeable collections that are stocked in stores and online.
The current crop will carry you through an easy, breezy summer by the water.
"The collection is about soft floating fabrics in loose easy-fit shapes that flatter and enhance the body," Ronnie says.
"Our core values are about using beautiful fabrics to create classic, wearable fashion for busy women.
"We never pretend to be in the forefront of fashion, we're more about producing useful, wearable clothes."
