An allegedly drunk driver in China faces jail time after he was filmed standing on the roof of his moving car as it drove down the street.

Footage posted online shows the bizarre moment he proudly stood on top of the vehicle in Bengbu city, in China's eastern Anhui province.

The man can be seen standing upright on the roof of the vehicle with his hands on his hips as the car moves slowly down the street and other cars pass him by.

At one point he appears to reach down through the sunroof with his feet to correct the steering wheel.

The People's Daily reports the man jumped back inside and tried to drive away when police approached his vehicle. He was arrested and faces charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence.
