Drug raids at Byron and Tweed

A MULTI-AGENCY police taskforce has smashed a major interstate ecstasy and cocaine network based on the Far North Coast.

Police from the State Crime Command drug squad, in conjunction with NSW and Queensland police, raided five properties in the Byron Shire and one in the Tweed Shire this morning, seizing a substantial quantity of cash and equipment used for the commercial manufacture and distribution of ecstasy.

Police have also seized documents in relation to the supply of cocaine to Far North Queensland where a Byron Bay man was arrested two months ago.

At this stage two people have been arrested with more arrests expected later this afternoon.
