Driver tries to grab traffic cones from moving vehicle

THERE'S dumb and then there is dumb.

But leaning out the driver's side window trying to grab traffic cones while driving through road works is really dumb.

A motorist has captured footage of a blue Ford swerving through road works in Victoria as the driver tries to grab the cones from their moving vehicle.

The video shared on the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page shows a driver, thought to be female on account of the long dark plaits that can be seen when they lean out of the car, make a grab at a cone as it passes.

On the second attempt, it looks like the driver gets incredibly close to catching their right arm on a truck.

After leaning right out on the third attempt and almost running over another traffic cone, the driver then takes both hands off the wheel and extends their entire upper body out of the car, making a grab for a cone with both hands.

The cone is knocked over.

The car passes a few more hats before the driver hits the brakes, slowing the car down significantly to lean entirely out of the vehicle again and make a grab for the last traffic cone with both hands.

Still no traffic cone.

And after all that danger.
