Dogwhistle: North Coast football volunteer of the month

GREG Meek a.k.a. Dogwhistle, chief photographer for the Byron Bay Rams Football Club has been named Football Far North Coast Volunteer of the month of June.

Greg has been part of the Red Devils Club for eight years and like most parents, his connection started as a result of one of his children playing football.

But it is not as a coach that Greg's passion manifests itself; but as the club's photographer.

Every weekend he takes around 4,000 photos and loads a selection of them SmugMug gallery linked to the Byron Bay FC website.

In addition he sends through a few pictures and a match report to the Byron Shire News.

"The publicity Greg garners for Byron Bay FC and local football is outstanding," said FFNC general manager Steve Mackney.

"Greg modestly goes about his passion, taking photos at as many Byron Bay FC games across juniors and seniors that he can get to and he does it all for free."

"I don't charge for downloads or publication, it's purely a love job," said Mr Meek.

"I also would like to recognise the efforts of several others at the Byron bay Football Club including Kerry Northcote, Peter Keenan, Menno Kopsas and Rob Keypunch who are a tireless and inspirational crew."
