A WORLD record is set to be broken at a Coolangatta nightclub in May when Kingscliff entertainer Deejay Offa takes to the stage for 121 hours.

That’s more than five days of consecutive deejaying.

Joshua Cook, who also goes by the name Deejay Offa, started training five months ago and is confident he can become the new record-holder for the world’s longest deejay set.

“I had a warm-up event not long ago and so far the longest I have done is 95 hours, but I’m very confident that I’ll get the job done,” Mr Cook said.

All profits from the event will go to the Kids with Cancer foundation, with businesses encouraged to sponsor the cause in hour blocks.

Sponsoring businesses will be advertised over the microphone for the entire hour or hours of their sponsorship.

“The business which takes out the major sponsorship will be in all the ‘theming’ and branding for the event.”

Neverland Bar has taken out a special 24-hour licence to host the event.

“Neverland have been absolutely fantastic,” Mr Cook said.

The event will run from 8pm on Sunday, May 15.
