Discounted tickets go on sale for Writers' Fest tomorrow

FORMER Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser will return to the Northern Rivers this year for the 2014 Byron Bay Writers' Festival.

Discounted early bird three-day passes for the annual festival go on sale tomorrow, Friday April 11.

The festival, which turns 18 this year, will run from August 1 to 3, with festival workshops starting July 28.

Apart from Mr Fraser, this year's festival is also tipped to include appearances from US author Poe Ballantine, former Doug Anthony All Star-turned celebrated radio presenter Richard Fidler, and children's author Mem Fox.

While festival organisers say the guest list for this year's event has been finalised, the full program, for the festival is not due for release until June 6.

This year's line-up will include a blend of "poets, songwriters, politicians, historians, comedians, journalists, biographers, literary and mass market fiction writers, bloggers and tweeters", organisers say.
