Byron Shire offered disaster assistance for December storm

DISASTER assistance has been activated in Byron Shire following severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in December 2014.

NSW Member for Ballina Don Page said the local area will be grateful to receive this assistance.

"Byron Shire Council had substantial clean-up costs after the storm, which included clearing trees and other debris from roads and repairing road slips and washouts to several local roads," Mr Page said.

"There were large costs associated with repairing land slips and wash outs following the storms
