Devils top NRRRL table

THE Byron Bay Red Devils remain undefeated and on top of the table in the NRRRL competition still with a game in hand.

Last Wednesday night they had a hard-fought win 12 to 6 win over Evans Head in heavy conditions and backed up four days later to inflict a 36 to 6 drubbing of Murwillumbah at Red Devils Park.

The first half was a hard-fought affair with both sides slugging it out defensively.

It was apparent the mid-week game had taken the zip out of the Devils but they still managed to go to the break with a slender 12-nil lead.

From the kick-off Byron Bay scored a length-of-the-field try and from there they ran away with the game.

The reserves bounced back to form and had a comfortable 38 to 6 win.

The under eighteens’ lack of fitness and cohesion took its toll late in the game.
