Devils in a slump

Defending premiers, Byron Bay Red Devils, are on shaky ground after going down to Murwillumbah 16-6 in Round 14 of Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League on Sunday.

It follows a last-minute win against Ballina the previous weekend, and the form slump coming into the semi-finals must be a worry for coach Nathan Cross.

The loss leaves the Devils in fourth spot on the table on 18 points, six behind competition leaders Lower Clarence.

Byron Shire rivals, Mullumbimby Giants, fared better, defeating Evans Head 28-6 on Saturday, putting them in third spot on 22 points.

Both the Devils and the Giants had wins in reserve grade.
