Devils put in Cudgen shocker

THEY might be the reigning NRRRL premiers, but the Byron Bay Red Devils put in a shocker against unfancied Cudgen Hornets on Saturday at Kingscliff going down 34-16.

Coach Nathan Cross rated the performance, which saw the Devils 28-6 down at half-time, as the team's worst in two years.

Cross said that with a few exceptions his team didn't turn up ready to play.

In reserve grade, Byron Bay won 12-6 and forfeited the under 18s game.

Neighbours Mullumbimby Giants fared a lot better defeating Murwillumbah 48-10.

The Giants reserve grade side won 56-10 with the under 18s playing a 12-all draw.
