Dead calf dumped outside Ballina court was frozen: police

UPDATE, 1.30pm: THE dead calf dumped outside Ballina Court House this morning was frozen, police have confirmed.

Police said they believed the calf had been brought to court by a man appearing over a neighbour dispute and that he had wanted to use it to prove a point.

The case didn't go the way the man wanted, so he removed the frozen carcase from the boot of his car and dumped it outside the court.

12.16pm: A DISGRUNTLED court attendee left a dead calf outside Ballina Local Court this morning.

Registrar Christine McKenzie confirmed the animal was found on a seat outside the building after court commenced at 9.30am.

Mrs McKenzie said court staff contacted police and council who removed the beast.

At this stage it is unknown what the action was in protest of, or who the man was who left the calf on the seat.

It is understood the man was inside the court when police and council rangers arrived.
