Danny Vukovic's double incentive for title
FOOTBALL: There will be a special guest in the crowd if Sydney FC makes the Hyundai A-League's grand final next month.
Goalkeeper Danny Vukovic is hoping his toddler Harley will be at the game if his team makes it.
Little Harley is recovering from a liver transplant after he was diagnosed with biliary atresia soon after birth.
"My parents are always at the games," Vukovic said.
"My wife and my son, unfortunately, my son has been a little bit unwell so while he's recovering from that, they haven't been coming.
"I'm hoping if and when we make the grand final, they'll be there to watch."
Sydney FC will be presented with the Premier's Plate on Saturday night at its home match against Newcastle at Allianz Stadium.
The trophy is awarded to the best team out of the regular season's 27 games.
Vukovic credited the Sky Blues' team spirit for the achievement and encouraged people to join them in their celebration this weekend.
"We just want heaps of our supporters out there to help us out and celebrate this achievement," he said.
"We can't celebrate too much, the big one is the grand final trophy and that's our focus."
It has also been a great season for Vukovic personally, after he received a call-up from the Socceroos in March.
"It was a dream come true again," he said.
"I just need to make sure I keep doing what I'm doing here as well as I can and hopefully I get that call up.
"I'm trying to become regular on that team."
