Dads deserve decent gifts on Father's Day

ADULT children waste $56.2 million on unwanted Father's Day gifts, new research has revealed.

The research published by Johnnie Walker shows 49% of people planning to buy a present for dad admit they are unsure of what to buy.

More than half have given their dad a present they know he will never use, and more than a third have forgotten Father's Day altogether.

Celebrity, TV presenter and author James Kerley has written the chapter 'Why Dads Deserve Better' in his book The Man Plan explaining why dads need to take a stand on their special day.

"Aussie dads come in all shapes and sizes and are not always perfect!

"But let's face it - if it weren't for them we wouldn't be here.

"So it's alarming to see we're treating our 'old man' like a second-class citizen when it comes to gifts!

"My new chapter in The Man Plan aims to lift the lid on the paternal enigma and provide us grown up kids with a bit of direction when it comes to choosing a suitable reward for dad and all his cringe worthy, yet somehow endearing, ways."

In honour of those acknowledging the importance of having a drink with dad, Johnnie Walker is offering the limited edition Johnnie Walker Father's Day gift packs.

Available in two variants at Dan Murphy's stores nationally, the iconic Johnnie Walker Black Label ($54.99 RRP) and celebration Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve ($100 RRP) gift packs come with Johnnie Walker glassware, making it the perfect way to share a whisky with dad.
