Crims kept police busy after series of Sydney shootings
POLICE have vowed to focus on stamping out gun violence in Sydney's troubled suburbs but for at least 24 hours this week, underworld criminals appeared to have the upper hand.
The madness began when a house and car were sprayed with bullets at Banksia late Monday.
Hours later, a young man was shot in the stomach at Carramar.
The 19-year-old was standing next to his car when another man shot him and ran away.
He was taken to hospital where he remained in a stable condition on Tuesday.
Soon after a series of shots were fired into a shed at Mt Hunter.
A taxi carrying a semi-automatic assault rifle, 40 bullets and two loaded 30-round magazines in the boot was pulled over in the heat of the action near Newtown.
Two alleged Hells Angels associates were arrested and refused bail.
The Gangs Squad is investigating.
