Look dad, there's a crocodile in the crab pot!

BRENDAN Reed got the shock of his life on Saturday when he pulled up one of his crab pots and found a crocodile in it.

The two-year-old crocodile was found in Coorooman Creek, and was dead when it was found.

Brendan's dad, John Reed, has been fishing in the area for 40 years.

He said while he had caught rats in his pots over the years it was the first time he'd ever caught a crocodile.

"Over the years I've seen around six to eight in the Coorooman system, and another half a dozen in the Fitzroy," he said.

"I know they're there … it's their water, not ours.

"You've got to be aware."

Matt Lever, from Koorana Crocodile Farm, collected the dead crocodile.

John contacted the authorities to let them know of his catch.
