Cattle cause chaos on the Bruce Highway

UPDATE:

POLICE and the public have successfully managed to herd the pair of cattle running across the Bruce Highway to safety.

A QPS media spokesman said the cattle have been moved on.

Traffic is returning to normal.

UPDATE:

POLICE are working to help get two cows under control after the jumped from the back of a truck and are on the loose on the Bruce Highway.

There are reports traffic is back up for several kilometres as they attempt to get the cattle under control.

EARLIER:

COWS not crashes are causing delays on the Bruce Highway this morning.

A group of cattle have escaped from a trailer and are running across both northbound and southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway near the Ettamogah Pub.

Sunshine Coast Daily photographer John McCutcheon said the cows were "fully freaked out" and about a dozen people were currently trying to herd them to safety.

He said a Traffic Response Unit was on scene.
