The surf lifesaving champion has joined the call of the Australia Day Council of NSW asking for everyone to Salute to Australia by providing an Aussie Fan message and joining in to sing the national anthem at noon.

"I'm an Aussie Fan because we are well known as easy going, fun loving and proud of our country," Hancock said via social media with a tag of #AussieFan.

Australians are being asked to show their patriotic side by uploading a photo and message that tells the world why you're proud to be an Aussie Fan and share it with your friends asking them to do the same.

Once messages have been uploaded, they will form part of the Aussie Fan Club gallery on AussieVault.com.au, telling the story of Australia by Australians and ultimately reflecting our national values and identity.

Besides having the opportunity to share their passion for this great nation, Aussie Fans will also have the chance to win three cash prizes of $1,000 based on the best photos and messages.
