Course ready to host PGA seniors

Fantastic shape. That’s the verdict from club professional Greg Stewart on Byron Bay golf course for the start next week of the Fiducian Legends Australian PGA Seniors Championship.

Stewart said course superintendent Shawn Cross and his team had worked hard to ensure the fairways and greens were in top shape.

The 54-hole event will be played over three days starting on Friday week with $80,000 up for grabs.

Leading players who will tee off include Peter Senior, Peter Fowler, Rodger Davis, Mike Ferguson, Dave Merriman, Garry Merrick and defending champion Noel Ratcliffe.

Stewart said there would be 75 pros in the field who would be joined by about 90 amateurs.

He said there were still a few spots open for amateurs. Players who want to join the field can call the pro shop on 6685 6977.
