INFRASTRUCTURE projects planned in Livingstone and Rockhampton regions will have a positive flow-on effect for the community.
That's the view of Rees Banks, Regional Development Australia Fitzroy and Central West CEO.
He said Rockhampton had already seen the positive effects of the latest riverbank developments, which had improved confidence in local businesses.
But Mr Banks said the improvement didn't guarantee positive future.
"In our region a lot of figures like unemployment, average income or rent depend a lot on the resource sector and when that moves, it moves in a large amount.
"I would say the businesses in Rockhampton are either stabilising or just surviving.
"There's a deal of confidence for those who are operating and continuing to supply services and goods to the community, but I wouldn't say there was an overall 100% positive outlook for the future."
He said the region's councils had planned for expansion projects which would create more jobs.
- Rockhampton Regional Council area's unemployment has from 9.3% to 6.7% in a year
- The unemployment rate in Gladstone has fallen to 3.9%
