Pies cop hefty fine for training breach

COLLINGWOOD has been fined $20,000 for a breach of the AFL's list lodgement rules.

The fine, of which half has been suspended until October 31, comes after the Magpies failed to lodge the details of an unlisted player prior to the commencement of training last year.

The player was therefore ineligible to train for the club at the time, with the AFL confirming the details of the fine in a statement released on Monday.

AFL investigations manager Ken Wood said Collingwood had "fully co-operated in the investigation and this and other mitigating factors had been taken into account regarding the penalty".
