Open Arms rocks coast
THE Open Arms Festival has gone off without a hitch, attracting a 5000-strong crowd and firmly re-establishing itself as Coffs Harbour’s premier outdoor music event.
The Hilltop Hoods and Perth five-piece Karnivool rocked out at the Coffs Harbour Showground on Saturday night.
The main acts were supported by rising Indie Act Children Collide as well as seven local bands and artists.
Promoter Jeff Moss says the festival, in its second year, has continued to grow in stature and will again return to Coffs in 2010.
“It was a great response, a huge amount of support from music lovers. The numbers were up this year and the crowd behaviour was exceptional,” Jeff said.
“This year a lot of people took advantage of the camp sites we offered, our markets did well, and overall it was a big turn out by Coffs, but we also saw a lot of travellers,” he said. With the support of police, promoters boosted security at the all-day event.
They now hope to work with council to improve crowd and traffic management and see the festival return in 2010.
