Coalition still holds strong lead over Labor in poll
LABOR'S $14 billion push to overhaul Australia's education system has failed to result in a bounce in the latest Newspoll.
The poll, published in The Australian, has not changed in the past fortnight with the Coalition still holding a commanding 55-45% two-party-preferred lead over Labor.
Primary support for Labor remained unchanged at 32%, while the Coalition dropped two points to a very health 46%.
There was also little change in the past fortnight on the question of who would make the better prime minister - Tony Abbott leads Julia Gillard 40-35% - and leader performance.
The Prime Minister's scored a major coup on Tuesday by striking a deal with NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell on the Gonski education reforms.
