'Coal Train' ready to rumble for Raiders

RUGBY LEAGUE: Canberra front-rower Junior Paulo says a slimmed-down Dave Taylor will still help beef up the Raiders pack as the side looks for a first NRL win of the season.

Taylor, who is one a one-year deal in the nation's capital, is set to make his debut in the Raiders' clash with the Wests Tigers on Sunday after serving a two-match suspension for his part in the Gold Coast Titans' cocaine scandal.

The "Coal Train" has lost weight since signing for the Raiders but Paulo said his fellow prop was still an imposing figure and would cause the Tigers problems from the bench as Canberra looks to bounce back from defeats to the Cowboys and the Sharks in the opening two rounds.

"Everyone's based our team around the intimidation side of things and with Dave coming in I'm sure that brings a lot of power coming off the bench," Paulo said.

The Tigers will have some big boppers of their own with skipper Aaron Woods ready to fire up after last week's big loss to Penrith.

Paulo said, however, that he and Shannon Boyd would enjoy the challenge that Woods brings.

"I try and test myself no matter who's in front of me," he said.

"Obviously (Woods) is a Test front-rower, soon to be the leader of the Aussie pack. It will be a good challenge for me and Shannon."

After last week's big loss to Cronulla on home soil, Paulo said it was now time to look at what was going on internally rather than worrying about what the opposition does.

"The past two weeks we've been focusing on our opposition and we haven't really been focused on what we have to offer," he said.

"We're desperate for a win."
