Cleary named in Blues' emerging Origin squad

RUGBY LEAGUE: New South Wales coach Laurie Daley has wasted no time in getting Penrith prodigy Nathan Cleary in the Blues system.

The 19-year-old Panthers playmaker, who played 15 games in his rookie year, has been named in the Blues' emerging squad.

He has been joined by club teammates Bryce Cartwright and Reagan Campbell-Gillard, along with recent Australian debutants Shannon Boyd (Canberra) and Jake Trbojevic (Manly).

"Each of the players has a realistic chance of making the Origin team for 2017 and we look forward to working with them and learning more about them during our camp in January,” Daley said.

The 13-player squad will assemble in January.
