TALLEBUDGERA beach regulars are not surprised it has been named Australia's Cleanest Beach.
The Keep Australia Beautiful (KAB) Australian Clean Beaches Awards bestowed the honour on the popular family cool-off spot on Friday.
It also won the Community Action and Partnerships, Dame Phyllis Frost Litter Prevention, and Young Legends awards.
Broadbeach's Ran McDonald, his wife Lisa, four-year-old daughter Ava, and son Ari, 19 months, were enjoying the beach's sands and pristine waters yesterday.
Mr McDonald said his grandmother took him to the spot when he was growing up.
“My daughter virtually insists on coming down here. The kids just love it,” he said.
He moved back to the Gold Coast from Sydney six years ago after pursuing a career there and said every day it was “good to be back”.
“You never see any rubbish on this beach.
“Plus the water here is easily the best on the coast. I've been trying to get my pool that colour but it won't get there for some reason.
“This has always been a prime kiddies' beach, and last week there were dolphins in the river so we followed them on our stand-up paddleboards.”
KAB Queensland CEO Rick Burnett said the award was a credit to local community groups, volunteers, the Surf Life Saving Association and the council.
