Claim Brisbane Lions player assaulted man in wheelchair

A  BRISBANE Lions AFL player is being investigated after allegations he assaulted a man man in a wheelchair on the eve of Mad Monday celebrations, according to media reports today.

A  News Ltd report   says police are investigating claims the disabled man was tipped out of his wheelchair while waiting for a taxi on Sunday.

A statement in reaction to the claims has been posted on the Brisbane Lions website.

"The Brisbane Lions are aware of serious allegations made against one of its players regarding an alleged incident on Sunday night," the statement says.

"The Club has launched an immediate investigation into the matter as it had not previously been made aware of the allegations.

"The Club will make further comment once it is in a position to do so."

The accusation comes just days after it was reported that a dwarf entertainer was set on fire at Mad Monday celebrations for the St Kilda Football Club.
