CHRISTINA Batista is happy to have left the MasterChef kitchen on the back of a simple, clean dish.

The mum-of-two was the first contestant eliminated from MasterChef's finals week tonight after her cauliflower soup with scallops was deemed too simple by the judges.

"I'm extremely happy and proud of my dish," she said.

"I wouldn't have done anything differently except maybe add something to it, like cumin oil or bacon salt, that would have given that little bit more depth and complexity in flavors.

"If I'd added another element or two then I would have been safe… Rishi's dish was better than mine at the end of the day."

She tips either Rishi Desai or Samira El Khafir to win the fifth series of the show, which comes to a head in Sunday's grand final.

"If I had to pick one out of the two it would be Rishi, closely followed by Samira," she said.

"I'm excited to be a viewer (now), and not looking at myself through my hands."

The silver lining in Batista's elimination was the return home to her two children and partner.

"Overall I was gone for almost six months, which is a huge chunk of time," she said.

"I took them (children) away to Nelson Bay for five days so we could hang out and reconnect on the holiday, which they loved.

"Having said that, they've been asking me when I'm going to go (away) again. They were slightly spoilt while I was gone. Now I'm back and they're back to the old rules (laughs)."

Batista's new food website launches tonight, the first of many new projects for the 31-year-old.

"The website's going to have blogs, restaurant reviews, recipes and everything that I'm up to. It's definitely the first step in achieving my food dream," she said.

She's also looking at work experience to build up her skills before one day opening her own '50s inspired café.

"I want it to be really successful, and if I was to do that now it would be crazy," she said.

"I want it to be a family business. My partner Kate is a barista so she'll be making coffees and hopefully the kids will be old enough to wait tables."

MasterChef finals week continues tomorrow through Thursday at 7.30pm. The MasterChef grand final airs on Sunday at 7.30pm on Ten.
