Child sex predator caught in police sting at hotel

AN UNDERCOVER police operation targeting online predators has led to the arrest of a registered sex offender in Sydney's west.

Assuming the identity of a mother with a young daughter, officers attached to the Sex Crimes Squad exchanged messages with a man, 26, via an adult social networking site.

Police will allege that during the conversations, the man made a number of explicit comments about sexual acts he would like to perform on a young girl.

He then allegedly arranged to meet the woman and her 11-year-old daughter at a hotel at Parramatta.

When he arrived at the hotel on Thursday, he was arrested by detectives and charged using a carriage service for child pornography and incitement to commit sexual offence.

He was also charged with failing to comply with Child Protection Register conditions.
