Change needed for new climate

AUSTRALIAN businesses are not properly prepared for climate change, experts at the University of Queensland claim.

Dr Martina Linnenluecke and Professor Andrew Griffith said companies should plan now to "safeguard their long-term future".

While they noted some firms were reducing their carbon emissions, they said businesses needed to consider the effects of physical impacts - from cyclones and floods to heatwaves and storm surges.

Their book, The Climate Resilient Organisation, argues businesses need to reduce emissions and adapt to prevent large-scale disruption from power outages.
