Chance to inspect sport site

RESIDENTS are being invited to tour the $16.8m Byron Regional Sport and Cultural Complex now nearing completion in Ewingsdale Road, Byron Bay on Sunday week.
Byron Council’s executive manager of community infrastructure, Phil Holloway, said the complex was “well and truly starting to take shape” and construction of the multi-purpose facility was well under way.
When completed, the indoor facility will be able to accommodate a host of sports including netball, basketball, badminton, volleyball and futsal.
Mr Holloway said turf on the playing fields was establishing well and once the last of the light poles were installed, the perimeter of the fields would be turfed.
The project is due to be completed early next year.
The site will be open for inspection on Sunday week from 2pm to 4pm.
